RIVERGIRL: books, blog and barges: My posts are mini-memoirs about about life on a barge, our travels and the Netherlands. Oh and sometimes about my writing.
yes, this is indeed a real Netherland picture. I love it. Think I must have holidays in Dutch country in the future. It's a long time ago I stood there.
Hello lovely Vally. Yes, that light really is special - it's a lovely photo. Sorry I haven't been around - I've been hectic/dark/sick by turns, but all will be better soon.
I'll have to show Colin your tractor in the last post - he wants one, and it's a running joke here. I KNEW you two had some sort of special bond!
thank you for your writing on my blog. If I go in the future to the Netherlands I come and say "Hello" to you and Koos. I promise, but since more as two years I had no holidays and I don't know if there will be some free days this year.
Hello lovely people. Thanks for sharing my love of this view and light with me too. It really is very Dutch and yes, Hans, very coastal too. It was taken on a beautiful late autumn day and as Cheryl rightly says, it was very dreamy. The strange thing is that I used to get very depressed by the darker, greyer days in England, but that doesn't happen to me here, and I think it has to do with the flatness of the land and this particular quality of light. I love it.
Margie, I do hope the sick/dark/hectic times will give you some freedom soon. I hear you are also working till all hours! Take good care and don't over do it now, will you? I'm so delighted to hear Colin loves tractors too. They've been a long time obsession of mine...amazing!
Gypsy, Dale and Anne Marie, I hope I can show you this in real life on e of these days.
Good morning Val,

Have a great day

This light is so typical for coastal areas, i love it. A picture from the Netherlands without a windmill wouldn't be Netherland, would it?
ReplyDelete:)
Hans
It looks dreamy :)
ReplyDeleteI love the description of the "pearly light"...
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely captured it with your lense.
I too liked the description of the pearly light. Nice addition, Val.

Hi Val,
ReplyDeletejust to clarify, the second dog is indeed still alive. I posted the edit over the original, and was wrongly told he had been put down.
Thanks for the kind words.
