HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY BLOGGING FRIENDS

As always during the very first days of each new year, Koos and I went to the coast for a walk. This year, Mo and Craig were with us, as were Charlie and Sindy. It was a beautiful morning, and exceptionally mild. I have to say that if this is global warming, I'm not against it :)

The dogs had fun playing on the beach and we walked along the big sea dyke until the cold wind got to us, but then given our lack of hats, gloves and real winter gear, a bit of a chill wind was enough to send us back to the car again.

That aside, I'd like to wish all my blogging friends a very wonderful new year. There are a lot of changes afoot for us, but I'll write more about that later on. For now, may the sun shine on you metaphorically and physically the whole year long! Love to you all, Val xxx

  1. Quite enjoyed your blog not sure what or why you called us older generation Amnesiac,,, handicapped person - a person who has some condition that markedly restricts their ability to function physically or mentally or socially,

  2. Hmmm, thanks for your comment Mr Wales :) Still, I don't know that I have ever referred to anyone older as being handicapped...just a tad forgetful, that's all. I presume you're referring to a post I wrote a few years ago about some very dear friends of whom I am exceptionally fond? In that event, it was definitely forgetfulness, and it was written with my tongue very firmly in my cheek. No offence was ever intended or taken as far as I know.

  3. A Happy New Year to you and yours too Val.

I concur with your comment on global warming, especially tonight as a wild storm rages overhead gusting to 120 km/h at times and I draw nearer to the stove as I write this :) Yet still it is not like the -18C of last year.
    Roll on summer eh?

  8. Mel, I think we've got your storm today. It's blowing a terrific gale and the barge is rocking with. Rain is lashing the tarpaulin as I write and it's noisy, drafty and not very pleasant.

Ingela, thank you! I heard about your storms too, but 'm guessing you're happier with the rain than the snow! I hope 2012 is a great year for you and Hans!

Fran, I think the nasty stuff has arrived over here! Winter seems to be one thing or the other in NL. Either we have freezing weather with snow, but not so much wind, or it's mild, wet and very stormy. Last year was the former and this year is most definitely the latter. I have rarely known it to blow so much so often!

Stu, looking forward to seeing you soon!

Stefan, I wish the same for you and your lovely family.

  12. Gina, Grace and Anne Marie, thanks! I'm glad you like my now traditional new year pics! NY wouldn't be the same without our coastal walk. This year, it was a lot more pleasant than normal.

Anne Marie, happy new year too and I hope its a great one for your book and your authorship :)
