Here are two random photos I have taken recently with my phone. Both of them are what you might call 'road' photos', but why did I take them? At face value, it might seem obvious (to some), but there are reasons for both pics. The little Fiat cars are absolutely a favourite of mine at the moment, but that isn't the reason I snapped them, and then what about the beautiful medieval bridge at Tournai in Belgium? No prizes for telling me where it is (haha), but I might give one if you can tell me its Flemish city name. Still, what is it that appealed to me here? Any guesses? Just take a good think about what grabs my attention these days, and maybe you'll hit on the answer.
Is it the idea of repetitive patterns?

Mel, you are right about the car photo! It is all about lines and angles and colour too - I love them, especially the red girders against the creamy white of the cars - but that still leaves the bridge :)
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie, one down one to go! I know about the time factor. It is a struggle, especially with my writing blog, but I try and stay away from FB except to 'advertise' my blogs, as for me that was a real time eater, and you hardly notice how much it is taking.
LOL no clue for me, I looked at the similarity of the over/under thing, and the truck ramp that looks like an arch.

ReplyDeleteThe bridge appealed to me because despite its history and status as a monument, It still spans a waterway that carries major commercial transport (connection with cars, carriers etc). I was fascinated to learn that the big 1300 tonner barges creep through its central arch, and that this waterway, the Schelde (or Scheldt / Escaut) is the one that has its estuary just a few kilometres from my place in Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Sooo, the appeal was firstly the lines and colours of the car transporter and secondly the link with commercial traffic on the waterways (which I love) and history (which I also love). Nearly all of you touched on it somehow, so you are all winners! :)
