Photos of Helsinki

Today has been satisfying in many ways. I gave my little Vespa its first spin of the year, which is always good for the soul. Then I managed to do a good bit of gardening and weed clearance, during which I found a baby Lilac tree with one beautiful bell of rich purple flowers. After that, I took myself off for a run, which always feels great after the event, even if I sweat and struggle my way round my own Westdorpe circuit. Lastly, I've managed to upload some of my Helsinki photos to Picasa, so here is the link. I still have the ones of the lovely walk Maria and I made around Suomenlinna island to show you, but that's for next time. Now I have to finish the lesson planning I started this morning....

  2. Oh dear, those photos of myself are not exactly flattering! Well, the grinning one is sort of ok but the student cap one is rather poorly indeed. I look tired and old, plus with a bad skin! Wish you would have cut the picture just below the nose. Oh well :-)

Good luck with preparing the lesson!

  3. another grand tour Val! Thank you.

And some one's of Maria, very nice :)

You are making me feel as if I have been there myself. Your day sounds very relaxing and peaceful. It's Mother's Day here, so happy mother's day.

  8. Aww, Maria, I'm sorry you don't like them. But the one with the student cap is cut isn't it? I will have to check. I cropped it just to show your eyes and the hat, because I thought you wouldn't want such a close up. The thing is, we never like pics of ourselves do we? I always hate mine...always. That's why I always pull funny faces or try to have them obscured!

Still, I don't think you look old at all!! You look young and blonde and lovely, which you are!...try a few of my wrinkles for size ;-)

Ah, I see Janys has already said the same. Right, I'll go look at them now.

  9. Ok, I've cropped the hat one a bit more now, Maria, but honestly, the other two are moments captured, and I think you look lovely!

  16. Great photos, and Maria, you look just fine. Tired and old? Not a chance.

I love all the tram lines intersecting in the photos. Reminds me of Amsterdam.

  18. Wow, thanks everyone. The photos were helped by the beautiful subshine on the days I took them. Bright light makes everything look good, so you don't have to work for it.

Ingela, would LOVE to have a go at your garden. It's such a beautiful one.

Dan, so good to see you again!

Fran, go visit Finland, but as my friends have suggested, summer is best. I wish I could have seen it in full leaf so to speak.

String, Anne Marie and Stefan, many thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed my photos.
