Too much to tell so just a little taster

Life has been rather busy recently. There's far too much for just one post and as I'm more than a bit tired right now, I'll settle for just a photo of the Vereeniging back in its place next to the Luxor and some pics of the nearly finished re-vamp of the interior.

I still have to find some suitable furniture, namely a sofa and a table for eating/sitting at and last but not least, all my personal belongings. I did have furnishings in it before, of course, but they have all found comfortable corners in the little house, so I'm loath to move them all again. In fact I'm planning to make a sofa and a table as my requirements are rather specific. More on that later. For now, see my newly painted but rather empty home!

By the way, you might have noticed my blog has its old name back again.

  1. Hello you! Great photo's. We have some furniture in our basement that could be intresting for you! A small round table, like we have in the livingroom but then way smaller... A little old comfy green chair. Kitchentable/trolley thing. All small furniture and we want to get rid of it. Intrested?

  2. Looking good. All the hard work is paying off. We have some furniture we no longer use that you can check out. Simone is typing out details as I type this (it's a comment race but I can already see she beat me :p)

  3. Oh yes... For free ofcourse! It's good stuff, but we're not using it anymore. Could be great for you!? Just let us know. We would love to make someone really happy with it. If that someone is you, that's even better! Love Stu&Si

  7. She looks lovely. The tiles in the bathroom/kitchen are great and the red floor is amazing. Well done, it must be good to be home xxx

  8. It looks very enticing, am sure you will have fun making the sofa. Plus seeking out other suitable bits and pieces.

Which to my mind is the best part of making a home.

    So have fun!

  10. Hi Simone and Stu, thanks so much for the offer. I should come round and take a look shouldn't I? I'll be in R'dam for a couple of days this week so will give you a call!

Thanks Janys! I like the idea that my red floor (a bit darker than the photos suggests in reality)is Venetian. I'll be in Rotterdam again on Wednesday and will be there till the weekend. If your friend would like to visit, he will be very welcome. Throwing anchors might be a bit heavy though ;) I'll email you my phone number so he can send me an sms before he comes. I'll have to make sure Sindy doesn't scare him away, see!

Thanks Grace. I rather like its new look too.

Maria, I'm going to get busy with my woodworking tools tomorrow!

Fran, thanks, the tiles are very typical for Dutch barges.

Mel, the seeking is as much fun as the finding when it comes to furniture, but the making will be even more fun than that!

String, thanks, I'm very pleased with the way it's turned out.

And Hans, bless you, I could do with some trouble free life now! Looking forward to the day when you, and Maria too, can come and visit us!

  11. Welcome home little ship!

It's great to see Vereeniging back where it/he/she belongs! Both in the water and in cyperspace...

I'll bet you can hardly wait to get your furnishings back in place.
The fresh paint looks fabulous and I absolutely love the colour of the floor! The tile work is very European, is it not?

I have been very busy here, too, and it shows no sign of letting up. I will be looking forward to a more regular routine once the kids go back to school after Labour Day. Things get a bit erratic during the hot summer months, but I've learned to go with the flow.

When do you get to move back in?

    xx

  12. @Vally: Will send you an email with photos. If you think there's anyting you like... then if it's not what you are looking for you can save yourself a trip and some dissapointment, haha... I'm home on wednesday afternoon the rest of the week working. Stu is in germany most of the week. Both home on saturday morning. Otherwise next week?

  13. Hi Val,
I have to laugh- the word verification is "houssing", which describes the post with an extra "s".

I love how it looks, and look forward to seeing the finished living-room.
