A couple of weeks ago I mentioned I'd made a skylight for the Vereenging (or a koekoek as it is called here), but I hadn't taken any photos of it. Now I have, and it sits on its frame nicely too, which is good. I wanted it to be as discreet as possible, given this is still supposed to look like a cargo carrying vessel of the 19th century, but that's quite hard when making it rain proof as well. I've had to use a lot of silicon filler stuff to prevent leaks around the joints and base, and this still needs to be sanded smooth and painted over.
Next year, I intend to put a steel roof under the hatch boards and then it can be set further into the roof with with a water run-off around it, which will hide it more. So far, though, I'm rather pleased with it.
And in the way of relaxation, this is what Mo and I did this afternoon with dear friend, Aad:

I loved your little youtube movie- the dog has great sea legs and I really enjoyed the weeping willows and the windmills at the edge of the water- so Dutch!
Looks like expert work! Not that I have any knowledge of this stuff. But you are very lucky to have the skill to do all the stuff yourself. Would be so expensive to have to hire people to do the work. And then of course I suspect it would be downright embarrassing to claim to be a barge owner but not actually know how to take care of it!
Such a lovely video too. The music is a perfect choice for the leisurely summer mood.
Reminds me a bit of being upriver of Richmond! Looks like you all have a lot of fun! Here we are going to need a boat soon as a lake will be developing out yonder I fear!
Anne Marie, thanks! The measuring was all done in situ though, as I fear I would also have had it falling through the hole otherwise! Glad you enjoyed the movie too xx
Maria, yes it would be expensive to hire someone else, and as you maybe know the saying 'needs must when the devil drives'...well that's me ;-) Although I have to say I enjoy it too.
String, hoist your sails and man the boat! A lake outside your front door could be fun, but on the other hand, might not be too...;-( We enjoyed our afternoon on the lake though. Very peaceful and very Dutch.
Dale, sorry your couldn't hear the sound, but in fact the conversation was muted anyway. This lake where we were on the boat is right in the middle of Rotterdam. I think that surprises a lot of people as it's very peaceful and rural in appearance. There's a large park with woods all round it too giving it a further sense of peace and tranquillity. A lovely place to get away from the chaos of the city!

I am the kind of guy who enjoys to try original stuff. Presently I'm constructing my personal solar panels. I'm managing it all by myself without the aid of my men. I am utilizing the net as the only path to acheive this. I stumbled upon a really amazing website that explains how to create pv panels and so on. The site explains all the steps involved in solar panel construction.
I am not really sure bout how precise the information given there iz. If some people over here who had xp with these things can have a see and give your feedback in the thread it would be awesome and I would highly value it, because I truly lav [URL=http://solar-panel-construction.com]solar panel construction[/URL].
